HTC keyboard on DROID -non-root-

I just installed 18. There are a few minor changes but it was worth it. All you have to do is move the new APK to your Droid and have Astro upgrade it. Very easy.

Just checked mine and I am using version 7. Where do you get the latest version? If someone talked about this in an earlier post sorry I only read the last two pages.

Ok I saw that on the first page it shows up to 13 versions. Where is version 18 at? Wow I cant believe how many versions this keyboard has got up to.

Does anyone know how to change where the prediction words are in location to the keys? I would like to have my prediction words above the keyboard rather than half-way on the top row keys. I know there is a setting for this, I just can't find it. Thanks.

Just pres and hold the prediction box untill it vibrates and then you can move it anywhere

I have been hoping for an improved keyboard and when I saw this thread I was quite excited this morning. But as I have manage to use my Droid quite well I have to be honest the set of instructions left me very confused, as I really prefer to download directly to my Droid rather than having to use my computer.

I did a bit of searching and found a much simpler set of instructions at least they were for me. Hopefully it is ok if I post them here.

You can download directly to your Droid by opening the above link on your phone.

2 apk’s are still needed: htc_ime.apk for the keyboard and clicker.apk for the settings/calibration. install both…

instructions for those of you new to the game…
1. go into settings -> applications and check the “unknown sources” box.
2. visit this post from your phone’s browser.
3. tap and download this file onto your phone: htc_ime.apk (alt link)
4. tap and download this file onto your phone: clicker.apk (alt link)
5. tap on each downloaded file once finished and install them.
6. go into settings -> language & keyboard and check the “touch it” box.
7. go into a text message, long press in the text box and choose “input method”.
8. choose “touch input”.
9. done.

So for me this was a much easier way and maybe it might be for others here.
