The private beta for Snapchat's video functionality on Android is over now. The company just officially announced they will be bringing their new video capabilities to Android, and in fact they already have! It was just ten days after their private beta, and now the app is available in the Google Play Store for Android version 2.3 and later. For those who haven't heard of it here's an official product description followed by a quote from co-founder Daniel Smith,
Here's what the cofounder had to say on his blog,The first real-time picture chatting app is now available on Android!
Snapchat is the fastest way to share a moment with friends.
You control how long your friends can view your message -
simply set the timer up to ten seconds and send.
They'll have that long to view your message and then it disappears forever.
We'll let you know if they take a screenshot!
Build relationships, collect points, and view your best friends.
Snapchat is instantly fun and insanely playful.
Show your friends how clever you can be and enjoy the lightness of being!
Front facing camera support on Android 2.3 and above.

The Android phones that many of us use were never designed with Snapchat in mind, and that can be tough when developing a hardware-based application. The video feeds and playback behavior can differ greatly – often with no guarantees or warnings. Some users will still experience difficulties, and we want to work with you to make Snapchat perfect (email us!), but we hope many of you simply come to love video snaps.
