Android 4.2.2 Now Rolling to Nexus 4; Removes the Unofficial LTE Support

This news probably won't apply to a ton of folks here on DF, but we still wanted to share it. Here's a good news/bad news situation for Nexus 4 owners. The good news is that Android 4.2.2 (version JDQ39), that has been rolling out to all the other Nexus devices besides the Nexus 4 is now pushing out to the Nexus 4 as well. Below we have some instructions on how to install it manually. But Wait! You may want to hear the bad news first, depending on where you live and what you have done with your Nexus 4.

The bad news is that this update effectively neuters the unofficial LTE support that some folks where able to activate on their Nexus 4 devices in Canada. So, fair warning if you fall into this category, and you want to keep your unofficial LTE, then you may not want to get the Android 4.2.2 update. For everyone else, here are some instructions below to install it manually.
    • Power off your Nexus 4, and power back on by holding the Volume Up and Volume Down buttons while it boots.
    • The fastboot menu should appear and you should see “Start” in the top right. Press Volume Up till it changes to “Recovery.” Press the Power button to select it.
    • You will see an Android with a red exclamation point icon, press Volume Up and the Power button at the same time.
    • You will get a new menu and you can navigate to “apply update from adb.”
    • Now it’s time to connect your Nexus 4 to your computer via a USB cable
    • Open the command prompt in Windows (cmd in Windows, regular shell in Linux and Mac) and navigate to the directory that the Zip file is located in.
    • Type: adb sideload de8b8d101614.signed-occam-JDQ39-from-JOP40D.de8b8d10.zip
    • The update will install and reach 100%.
    • Reboot and enjoy Android 4.2.2
One last disclaimer: please remember that this is only for the Nexus 4. The .sdk is different for other Nexus devices. Here's the download link: Nexus 4 JDQ39
