This is the second phone with the exmor RS sensor....the S means it has a stacked sensor. Im really curious to see what the picture quality is like! Sony makes some GREAT sensors.

    Good Screen size- check
    1080 hd beautiful- check
    quad core goodness- check
    SD slot- check
Decent battery size (2400 lith-poly)- check! should last all day!
What SHOULD be a great camera- check
Dust and water resistant?.....sure! i'll take it!
    Dev friendly- check

All my boxes are checked for a june purchase if it comes to verizon!

    Glass back......why?

Likely VZ will get the ZL: Xperia ZL | Smartphone - Sony Smartphones (US)

Slimmer package, IR blaster, LTE chip.

    Suppose both could show up.

It is quite strange that since both have the non-removeable battery both aren't sealed in the same way. The ZL is also the more "premium" of the two as you get the same size display with a smaller footprint, has a physical camera button, and has the IR remote, so surprising it would be lacking anything that the Z offers.

Regardless, Liquipel may be showing up everywhere soon, so it's all gravy.

Liquipel | Make Your Cell Phone Watersafe, No Case Required! problem solved

love that phone though. This is going to be a big year for mobile phones. The S4 will show hige tech leaps in the CPU and display areas. This sony I expect to have as significant of developments in the camera, the tempered display will be super durable, but a different direction than samsung's flexible. I feel the tempered will look better and be more durable vs scratching and keep a crisp picture longer. I just cant expect plastic to compete with glass in terms of a sharp picture. I will definitely be considering this phone when it comes out. Regardless of carrier. Verizon is losing my loyalty with their lack of showing any for me

after re-reading the post. The feature I'm most intrigued by isn't the sweet camera, being waterproof, or having a full-HD display with Sony's Bravia engine. All of which are badass. But the thing I am most intrigued by is Batter STAMINA mode. With all the hardware developments of these newest generations of phones, they CRUSH batteries, and now they aren't even removable so I can't upgrade or carry a spare, etc. So this STAMINA mode is something that is desperately needed

The specs failed to mention it has a MicroUSB port (fair enough to assume I guess) and a MicroHDMI (a great move and noteworthy since so many new phones are using a stupid MHL port - not even standard considering the GS3 needs its own MHL cable).

It's sad that this phone is so close to being awesome. The only problem with it is it has a glass back. What the heck!??! I hope it's at least gorrilla glass 3.

I wish companies besides moto would make phones that are well built, have large batteries, and have MicroHDMI ports. It's just impossible to get everything in one phone. Maybe the X-Phone will be right for me. I am very happy with my Maxx HD and the dual-core Snapdragon S4 sure has not let me down. I do think there are times that 2GB would make the thing feel completely butter-smooth but JB is better than ICS.

I'm glad to see Sony getting serious in the high-end Android game. I hope they bring the Z to Verizon for another great high end option.

Looks awesome, but for whatever reason it won't gain traction. Maybe it's because they won't play ball enough with the carriers? Idk.

I wish Google would let them make the next Nexus. LG has done an awful job at getting phones out and should never be considered for another joint Google project ever again.

since HDMI is a digital signal, wouldn't a micro USB to HDMI cable work just as well though? I really don't know, as I've never tried either and never owned an HDMI phone, but that makes sense to me...
