Lenovo Launches 6 New Android Smartphones at CES

It looks like Lenovo wants to jump heavily into the Android world this year. After launching a small smattering of Android tablets last year, today at CES they announced 6 new Android smartphones that will be coming this year. They haven't released any pricing or availability details on any of the phones, other than they will initially launch in China. Here are the revealed details on each, with their two "flagships "at the top:

    Lenovo K900 -
    • 5.5" 1080p 400PPI
    • 2GHz Atom processor.
    • Chassis is built with stainless steel and polycarbonate
    • Measures 6.9mm thick
    • 13MP Sony Exmor backside illuminated sensor
    • Android 4.1 with Lenovo's customized UI

    Lenovo S890 -
    • Optimized for entertainment
    • 5-inch display (resolution of 960 by 540 pixels)
    • 8MP camera on its back operated by "Lenovo Super Camera software"
    • Thickness of 9.3-millimeters and weighs 176 grams

    Lenovo S720 -
    • Multimedia features like built-in Dolby Digital Plus for better sound
    • Super Camera software mentioned above
    • Dual-core MTK system-on-a-chip
    • 4.5-inch IPS display with 960 by 540 pixels of resolution
    • Pair of cameras 8MP on the back and 1MP up front
    • 2,000mAh battery
    • 9.9-millimeter body

    Lenovo P770 -
    • Designed for business professionals who need a highly reliable handset
    • Huge, 3,500mAh battery that can even be used to charge other devices via the USB on-the-go support -continuous talk time of up to 30 hours
    • Native anti-virus software comes pre-loaded onto the device

    Lenovo P800 -
    • Entry-level Android smartphone
    • Dual-core 1.2GHz chip
    • 4.5-inch FWVGA (480 by 854 pixels) screen
    • 2,000mAh battery

    Lenovo A690 -
    • 4.0-inch WVGA display
    • SoC of about 1GHz

As you can see, they didn't reveal much about these devices, and what they did reveal was mediocre at best. We are intrigued by a few of the innovative concepts presented, like the business pro targeted phone with large cap battery and extra security features, but for the most part it looks like Lenovo is entering the market with a squeak rather than a bang. What do you guys think?

Looks like the flagships will be lacking in the battery department. It's not until they reach the 9.9 mm thickness that they tout a medium size (at best) battery. The stainless steel chassis sounds good and strong.

Just puppy footing around. (auto correct)

    Samsung Galaxy S4
Kind of meh. WVGA for a 4.5" display? Talk about a phone for the Grandparents. The qHD isn't any better. ESPECIALLY at 5". Really should be 720p.
