[Rumor] Droid Bionic ICS Update Maybe Ready Soon but Pushed to August; Soak Test Soon

We have heard some new rumblings of when we might see Ice Cream Sandwich arrive for the Motorola Droid Bionic, and it's both good news and bad news. According to industry sources, Motorola is almost ready to roll out the Ice Cream Sandwich update for the phone, and a soak test should be announced within 2-3 weeks. That's the good news. The bad news, is that originally Moto wanted to have the update ready by the end of July, but obviously that won't happen now, and more than likely, it will be in August.

According to this same report, the only reason why the update for the Bionic has taken so long is because the ICS update for the Droid RAZR and the RAZR MAXX has not gone smoothly enough (hard to squash bugs), which tied up the team a bit longer than they planned. The good news regarding this is that the team has learned from these mistakes and are doing their best not to repeat them with the Bionic.

Of course, most of you who didn't want to wait have probably already been using one of the many leaked builds that have been floating for a few months, so a few more weeks shouldn't be too tough.

Thanks for the tip, dfib, and Shadez!

After having my second Bionic die, I opted for VZW to swap it out for a Razr. They absolutely refused to give me a Maxx which costs the same that my original Bionic cost so I just bit the bullet and got one off ebay. Now that I have been upgraded to ICS I cannot use flash media at all. Do yourself a favor and refuse the update to ICS as long as you can or whenever Google decides to fix ICS to work with Flash media. Adobe has said that they will no longer support android above 4.0.

My guess is that your leaked version is 4.0. The OTA for Razr/Maxx is 4.0.4 which makes flash useless.

So because Adobe is pulling support Google should create the fix for you instead? For someone else's software? Don't completely understand that. Google's code just like anyone else with updates can cause head scratching. So they should use old code just so flash will work? Because Adobe doesn't want to update theirs?

could it be more specific to Motorola and their tweaking the source code for their phones? 4.0.4 on the Gnex ( mine at least, as I will not speak for others ) has no issues with flash at all. they did state they had bugs needing fixed and why it's taking longer to get it out there.

You guessed wrong! All of the Bionic leaks have been 4.0.4. ..I have ran 2 of the leaks without issue.

Well that really puts a burr under my saddle! I am not really all that effected by the loss of flash, but I do have a friend that uses it heavily. He spent over an hour on the phone w/ big red raising hell about the loss of flash and their response was that Adobe was not providing any future suppport and that he was at the mercy of Moto and Google.

Flash is supported through 4.0.x where x can equal anything from 0 to 9.
