I thought Google had control over the update launches without the need for Verizon to do anything about it. Is that how it used to be and has since changed?
That's only the case for GSM phones. Google can't officially support CDMA because of patents. If Google were to push us an OTA, we would not have any data, make phone calls, or send/receive texts. Verizon must sign the binaries. Without signed binaries, our phones would be the Android equivalent of iPod touches.
why verizon delaying the update? I remember when I have the fascinate..it took a lot of bad publicity in twitter before they finally gave in and give us gingerbread..maybe its time to do the same..just asking
