I think this was inevitable even without them. I bet that VZW is more interested in the huge subset of customers on unlimited data using between 2GB and 5GB a month that will be forced into paying an extra $20 or $30 a month or change their usage habits (the former being more likely for a most people) than the relatively small portion going over 10GB a month.

I'm getting pretty sick of Verizon (and other large corporations) thinking they can just dictate what we get for the exorbitant money we pay them. I think the consumer needs to be granted some sway in these types of decisions. If I can make my Bionic work on Sprint and they hold up their unlimited data claims, I might be jumping ship.

Are you guys surprised. They have a streaming partnership with red box they are working on and they been pushing and shoving every data intensive app they can pre load on our phones but preach about how to watch your data. Its like a casino posting the 1800 number for people with gambling problems to call. It is there so they don't get sued for not advising the people but the casinos really don't care if you have a gambling problem just as Verizon hope u rack up as many gigs as you can.

This obviously sucks hardcore. But really, who else has the LTE network? At my parent's house Verizon is pretty much the only provider that gives them signal where they don't have to stand out at the end of the driveway to make a cell call. My boyfriend's parent's house only has 3G, and Sprint doesn't reach out there. Verizon really does have the best coverage and speeds (from my personal experience). Unfortunately, I'll need at least the 5GB plan to satisfy my current use (I already am using wifi whenever possible and I never tether), so this is going to get expensive, especially since I still text a lot. I'm hoping I can get my work to pay for my phone next time (I'm the IT Admin, so they should, especially if they want me to check email on the go) so Verizon can stick it to them instead of me.

Bragging had nothing to do with it. Verizon has reports of user's data usage - they can see peaks. They have complete visibility into who's doing what on their network.
