It's barely 2012 and Google has yet another reason to celebrate. Over the weekend, Google's Android Market lay claim to 400,000 available applications according to mobile app watcher Distimo.
The App Store has over one million apps so who cares you say? Distimo says this was accomplished in about the same amount of time that it took Apples App Store. Both on-device software catalogs reportedly took approximately 40 months to pass the 400,000-app mark. The upward trend is accelerating, and if it continues, Google's Android Market will soon be part of the 1,000,000 application club.
We'd like to also note that the report reveals that Developers are embracing Android faster than ever before, and Google now has more than 100,000 publishers with an average of 4.1 apps each in the Market.
This is great news for Android enthusiast's everywhere. The platform continues to grow and become increasingly popular among developers.
