IBM Survey Shows More IT Pros More Interested in Android than iOS for App Development

A recent survey from IBM of more than 4000 IT professionals across the industry shows that more of them are interested in developing for the Android platform than for iOS. In fact their survey showed that 70% of IT pros are planning to develop and/or deploy for the Android OS. Here's a quote from the IBM survey,
“Mobile computing is firmly established in the marketplace and offers a means for IT professional growth as more and more organizations build applications. Developers looking to increase their mobile skills would be smart to look to Android. With its large and growing global install base, Android is ranked as being the top mobile platform over the next 24 months. This open source platform based on Java and XML offers a much shorter learning curve, and this contributes to its popularity with IT professionals. iOS remains strong in the U.S. and other developed countries.”
The survey also indicated that than 75% of those surveyed are currently working on some form of mobile app. That number is expected to rise to 85% within two years.

I am not terrific at math but those numbers equal quite a bit more than 100.

It is possible to develop for more than one platform.

Internally as well. The poll was posted to IBM employees as well. The results showed a higher number of Android users. There is an ever growing amount of Android based apps for use with IBM's internal systems as well. It's nice to finally have the ability (although limited) to add productivity during transit on the Campus's.
