Thus far, LTE has been thought of as data only since data is the core of LTE service. This means carriers have needed to use other options to add voice.
We thought voice wasn't in Verizon's LTE plans, but we were wrong.
The LG Revolution (pictured above) will be Verizon's first VoLTE device when it is released mid-year. It steps into the 4G voice realm with higher sound quality than traditional cellular and land-line calls, and when out of range of LTE, the device will fall back to CDMA so you'll never lose your voice calls.
This is just a small step towards something big. It will probably be years before LTE voice is a standard but everything starts somewhere.
Look for more on this at MWC next week!
What do you think of this new tech?
How long do you guys think it will be before LTE Voice is all over the grid?
