Verizon Set to Alter their Upgrade Policy

Do other phone companies have this only discount every 13-24 months bu1$h!t? Can you get a phone at at&t, sprint or tmobile at a reasonable price? I like how everyone from time warner to verizon to energy providers are screwing us out of our money these days.

Im ready for an upgrade now so if I cant get my upgrade after the 16th then I hope the new phones come out before Feb 16th so I can upgrade on the 16th of Jan then I have 30 days to return the phone so I'll return the phone when the new ones come out and then get the new phone.

i have a question if my date to actual upgrade is 11/22/11 since i am past the 13th month mark what should i do to get a early upgrade if i just go in and ask for an early upgrade to the fascinate will it work or what

You could give it a shot... but if you do get an upgrade, try for a one-year contract... this way you'll be good to go for next year's CES... lol.

Well I'm pissed! I called VZW of course they "claim" to have no idea what I'm taking about. Stating it must be a rumor. The fact that annual upgrades are going away is another attempt to get people to upgrade less and there for they lose less on the subsidiary price. They DON'T WANT existing customer to upgrade. If a customer has a old 1-2 yr old phone, they don't care. If the customer pays the bill that's all that matters.

i know CES is the 6th and i will go Saturday so if anything shows up i might wait but hopefully what ever they display comes out on the 16tg

You are grandfathered in. Its for contracts after the 16th. I plan on getting my new phone probably after seeing the CES.

This may be so. But after you re-up a new 2yr contract all the grandfathering goes out the window.

Can't edit. But another thing they LOOSE money when they subsidize the cost. This way the ONLY move if you want to upgrade in a year or less you MUST pay full retail then they loose no money on the upgrade and you still are stuck in a 2 yr contract. Win-win for VZW. They'd get rid of subsidize pricing all together if they could and still may in the future.

I agree I'm not eligible myself until June or September. (it's complicated) for 1 yr annual upgrades. But Once I or anyone else upgrades AFTER Jan 16th they cannot upgrade again until the 2 yr is up on a subsidized cost. If you can upgrade now do it. If not REMEMBER If you hold on to that upgrade then you can upgrade now or anytime (if eligible now).
