The new version of Opera Mobile for Android is moving toward using HTML5 primarily for its multimedia content, but won't leave Adobe Flash out in the cold and will continue to support it. According to the Opera Mobile Blog, " the new web technologies..." (like HTML5) "...aim to replace it, but Flash will be around for some time. If you have Flash player installed on your phone, Opera will support it."

Of further interest was their comments on HTML5 itself: "... although it's possible to embed videos in a Flash, you can have videos directly in HTML5, the same way as images." From a developer's perspective, this makes HTML5 clearly the more versatile and easier-to-use platform, but it's nice to see that we will still get support for Flash for as long as it stays relevant.
