Working on a Mac, no one-button rooting choice?

When it was first announced on Droid Life, I used EasyRoot to root my 2.1 Droid. It worked great but now I have a replacement Droid running 2.2 and EasyRoot doesn't work on this one.
I tried using Universal Androot but that just kept telling me that the rooting failed.

Since I'm using a Mac, a lot of the traditional options don't work for me.
Can anyone give me a new app, or a new way to root my precious Droid?

Do you have access to a copy of Windows to run a boot camp partition?

You can download VMWare fusion and set up a virtual machine with all the trial versions. I did that to root my Droid. I won't lie it was a royal pain and took awhile to get all the right files downloaded to run the virtual machine. The rooting itself wasn't bad, just the process of getting there.

I'm looking at all these links you're giving me and while I appreciate them, they are all WAY over my head in terms of how to enter these things into various programs. They're all just very intimidating.

I understand! While they can be intimidating and overwhelming I prefer to do the work (root) myself. I like to know what is going onto my phone and it helps me if I have a problem.
