    Change Icons on Droid

I have been trying all day to change the app icons that appear in the drawer. For example, I have tried adb pulling the phone.apk out and changing the ic_launcher_phone.png but when I push the apk back into the phone, the phone app force closes. Any suggestions?

I understand you are using adb to pull the.apk but after you have it on your desktop how are you replacing the icons and how are you getting the .apk back into the system ?

The more insight we have the better

I use stuffit to rezip the folder and than I rename the zip to apk. I then push it to the /system/app folder using adb

I have never heard of this "stuffit"

If you use 7zip you can open the archive without having to rename it

7zip is free, download it click on your .apk choose 7zip, open archive navigate to res/drawable-hdpi, insert your .png and push the .apk back into the system and see

I don't know exactly what you are doing, many things could go wrong...I just have never heard of anyone using stuffit, so an alternate choice of tools would be my first suggestion for a solution

    Not sure, P.C. User Here

You can rename the .apk to .zip make your changes, get the .zip to the SD card of your Droid and within Root Explorer rename it to .apk

But again I have no Mac experience this is what has worked for me on my Windows Computer

Thank you for your help. I downloaded a mac program that doesn't extract the zips it just views them. I change the .png and i push it to my droid and it works perfectly.
