FRG22D "error occurred while attemping to run privileged commands!

Hey, new here. I have my phone rooted and When I go to use the Rom manager I need to install ClockworkMod Recovery, when I go to install it, I get the error: "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands!"
I don't know much about linux but I have been doing some research, is this because I have the FRG22D update? If so What do I have to do to use my rooted phone to its rooting capability?

    Thanks in advance

stock FRG22D rooted won't have busybox installed. IIRC, busybox is required for ROM manager to work its magic.

Easiest way I can think of to install busybox is to install the free version of Titanium Backup - there's a built in option to install busybox right on Titanium's main screen, it's labelled "Problems?"

I know its someone elses topic but I cant find a solution...

I had a 2.2 custom rom (my phone was rooted) and had problem with installing updates for some applications like google maps and shazam. Said installation unsuccessful.
I decided to go with stock 2.2. I backed up all my apps with astro and installed stock 2.2 with rom manager. I then restored all those apps back to the new stock. Thats when the problems came up....

Now my tethering doesnt work, my rom manager does not work, I get a message: error while attempting to run under privileged commands.
I dont have clockwork mod installed anymore(or at leasts thats what rom manager is telling me) I also dont have sbf recovery installed and when I try to load it again thru rsd lite, it gives me this message: failed flashing process. Unable to retrieve initialization values from INI.file

Any help would be great appreciated.

Sounds like installing 22d unrooted you. Was it a Verizon official update you installed or another rom?

Yes, verizon frg22d but I had to do it since some apps were not installing on a custom rom. Is there a way to unroot it again? Earlier in the post this person mentioned installing busybox, tried doing that but no luck

Do you have terminal? Try opening and type "su" (without quotes). If the $ in front changes to # then you have root. I don't know that you still do if you applied the vzw frg22d.

The official FRG22D does remove root, even though you might still see Rom Manager and even Superuser in your app drawer. You will need to root your phone again if that is what you desire.

Yes, Im NOT rooted since I upgraded with Verizon Stock 2.2....

I tried rooting again with RSD Lite, as I mentioned earlier with no success. It tells me failed flashing. Error initializing INI.file. I also tried method with SDK and java, cmd and all those commands, all went thru, restarted the phone and again, no luck...still NOT rooted.

    This is really frustrating...

If you could list in more detail what steps you took and exactly where the failure was, it would be much easier to help. There are getting to be a million rooting threads all over, and honestly some just don't work. Or worse are misread to think it will work on every phone when some steps are specific to individual phones.

I tried these 2 guides with now luck:

    First guide:

Download and install RSD Lite 4.6.
Connect your phone to a USB and your PC and turn it off.
Open RSD Lite (run as administrator).
Slide open your keyboard, hold up on the d-pad, then the power button for 5 seconds and release.
Your phone should then boot to a black screen which is your bootloader.
Click the … next to the filename box and browse to where you saved MC1_A855_1282081087_Recovery-Onl..sbf.
Double click and open the file.
Click “start” and allow the SPRecovery SBF to flash. This should not take long.

and this is where it tells me Flashing Failed. Error initializing INI.file.

    Second one:

    • The instructions are made with the assumption that you place the unzipped package into a folder called “droid2root” and it’s directly on your hard drive (C:\). The easiest way to do this is make the folder on your desktop and just extract the files there, then move the folder to it’s proper place.

1.) Enable usb debugging on your device if you dont already have it enabled.
    2.) Extract Droid2Root.rar to c:\droid2root
3.) Connect your phone to the computer via usb cable
4.) On the computer open the command prompt. (In the start menu under accessories)
5.) cd to your adb tools directory:
For most the command would look like this cd C:\android-sdk-windows\tools (basically wherever you placed the sdk folder from the instructions)
6.) Now enter the following commands:
adb devices (This should list a device as a long number. If it doesnt something is wrong.)
    adb push c:\droid2root\rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin /data/local/tmp
    adb shell
    cd /data/local/tmp
    chmod 0755 rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
./rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin (Be patient here. When finished it will return you to c:\droid2root)
    adb devices
adb shell (you should now see a # instead of a $)
    mount -o remount,rw -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    exit
    adb push c:\droid2root\Superuser.apk /system/app
    adb push c:\droid2root\su /system/bin
    adb push c:\droid2root\busybox /system/bin
    adb shell
    chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
    chmod 4755 /system/bin/busybox
    mv /system/recovery-from-boot.p /system/recovery-from-boot.p.disabled
    mount -o ro,remount -t yaffs2 /dev/block/mtdblock4 /system
    rm /data/local/tmp/rageagainstthecage-arm5.bin
    exit

I did all of this, restarted the phone and still not rooted...

Again, before all this, I was rooted until I updated to Verizon 2.2..FRG22D
