Droid 2 As Good as D1 for ROMS ETC?

I have a Droid X currently but really miss installing new roms and all the other fun stuff that comes with a complete root.

Is the Droid 2 as good as the Droid 1 for what I listed above? Don't get me wrong the X is a great phone. I'm just bored with it and I loved installing new ROMS and overclocking.

I have heard of one ROM for the D2, but in no way is it as open and accessible as it is on the Original Droid and it might not ever be

It is plauged with the same locked bootloader that the X is, making it a lot harder to do that sort of thing. I still see the X getting more attention in the long run.

Jaysonstaurt this is why I haven't thought twice about giving up the Droid 1

New devices while nice get boring real quick. Nothing like having root access with an unlocked bootloader.

    There is no comparison.

Yep. The X is awesome, but I like tinkering with my devices and the X just doesn't offer that. May have to sell this beast off and pick me up an original Droid so I can have fun again!

What are people going to do when all the D1s break and we are left with a crop of simply new locked phones. So much for the open-ness android was supposed to offer.

The Android OS was and still IS open...very much so.
It's Motorola and/or Verizon who make it so you can't tinker with your phone.
Don't blame Google for what a device manufacturer decides to give us.
My name "IS" carl-- z28 is just what I drive.
But I respond to anything....call me Tom, Richard or Harry.
