Sorry for the double post, but could the Miletsone users let us know if the Gallery has multi touch as well.
And if so could you pull that off as well.
Maps does in fact have multitouch as well, but the milestone Maps doesnt have the turn by turn nav, so until then, ill stick with the droid's version of that.
Although: Does the milestone's turn by turn directions work in the US? That'd be something i'd be curious to test out too.
I think I read on AllDroid that the Milestone's browser.apk was acquired already and someone tried it and it wouldn't work on the Droid. They think it requires some other pieces to make it work.
Don't hold me to that, I haven't tried anything.
It would definitely be nice if thats all that is needed because I want PZ also
Does the milestone's onscreen keyboard support multitouch as well? that's the one i'd like to see. pinch zoom is neat and all, but the virtual keyboard needs work. hopefully the HTC one gets taht attention.
I find it a tad fishy that multitouch needs to be compiled in with the kernel as so many programs take advantage of it, but that may be the case from what I'm reading over at alldroid. I'm waiting for hakeem to send me a dump of the milestone, and I'll get to work on seeing if a port can be done.
I have pushed the Milestone browser to the Droid. It will not work as a straight rip. It is looking for external classes that have not been included with the Droid.
12-09 00:29:05.884: ERROR/AndroidRuntime(1468): java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com.motorola.webkit.MultiTouchWebView
There are several Motorola jars com.motorola.*, but specifically com.motorola.webkit.jar, that are in the Milestone /system/framework that were not included in the Droid. Pushing them to the Droid does not work directly. Also, there are parameters in the /system/build.prop of the Milestone that one would presume would need to be matched by the Droid. Despite matching file for file and property for property, the Milestone Browser.apk crashes on the Droid for me. Note, if you want to try, first remove the existing Browser apk and odex, adb push the Milestone file to /data/local and cat the file to /system/app.
Still investigating. The Milestone browser certainly works on the emulator, but obviously the build of the API, etc is different.
