To those who overclock past 1 ghz

What kind of battery life do you even get? im at 800 mhz and anything higher just turns my battery life to crap, yet i see all these people and their sigs saying they rock a 1.25 ghz kernel. Does anyone actually keep their clock speed that high?

Are you using a low voltage or ultra low voltage kernel, or are you using a standard voltage kernel?

Edit: NVM, I just noticed your sig.

I am back to stock, unrooted on 2.1, but when I was rooted, I also ran at 800mhz on a low voltage kernel. I also had less than great battery life, but I use the browser a lot.

i use bb .04 with chevno1 ulv 1.25 i run setcpu when i need the performance i turn it up to 1250. avaerage use i get about 10 hours before needing to charge.

so i started turning clock down to 800 when i dont need performance and get 24 hours before needing to charge

but some people just use petes scaling and dont run setcpu

I take it off the charger and it is usually good until I go to bed the same night. Easily 12 hours, usually 17-18. How many hours does your phone last?
    Chris

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.

so is it better to just use the regular kernel without setcpu or does it matter?

No, you want to use setCPU IMHO. It will help the battery by lowering the performance in certain situations, like sleep mode. Plus if your battery does get too hot it has safe guards on it to prevent harm to the battery. I think SetCPU is a must have.
