    Unhappy Issues with update.zip

so i never had a problem with update.zip files but i just tryed blackdroid 4.0.0 and it fails. Yet i can backup or restore a nanddroid file i did incase. (also tryed other roms to see if update.zip works and it did)

    SPRecovery says:
    --Installfrom sdcard...
    Finding update package...
    Opening update package...
    Verifying update package...
    E: Cant open /sdcard/update.zip
    (no such file or directory)
    installation aborted.

The no such file does not make since when phone is connected to pc and im in the sd root i put the file in there renamed as update.zip

what could i be doing wrong? Thanks

the same thing happened to me. when i checked the file in SPRecovery, it somehow got renamed 'update, zip, zip'. i renamed it a second time making sure it red 'update.zip' and it then loaded with no problem.

This is one of my pet peeves. Why MS would bother hiding file extensions from "known file types" is beyond me.

You download a file and the file extension is hidden from you, so now you see filename and not the entire file name of filename.zip. You read instructions that tells you to rename the file to update.zip so you do just that. You rename filename to update.zip but really you are renaming filename.zip to update.zip.zip

worse, someone sends you a file named pics.zip.exe and the icon is the zip icon. you see pics.zip and bam, you've got issues.

    In windows:
Control Panel > Folder Options > View (one of the tabs) > uncheck the box for "Hide extensions for known file types"

    Chris

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.
