Alas, the dying of an era, and beginning of a new one...

Right when I root and custom ROM my droid, finally getting into this community, breaking my way into it...The droid X is released...I hope those who have got it are happy with it, and I'm hoping to get my hands on the unofficial Droid 2 (if it still unofficial) anyways...

So, if you usb tether your Droid to your laptop, does that mean you have to pay for Verizon's service? Any workarounds to use the coverage for free?

I was thinking perhaps a proxy, like ultrasurf or freegate?

Get back to me on it,

    Thansk guys,
    Aidan B

I seriously doubt the Moto Droid will get tucked away into the archives for a while. I purposefully just bought a new Droid because of the extensive apps and support of an "experienced" piece of hardware.

I haven't seen the sales figures, yet, but unless the Droid X had an EPIC first day of sales, the original Droid is still the #1 selling Android smartphone.

custom_backup_list.txt - make a list of files in /system that will survive a nightly install (ringtones, notifications, system apps, wallpapers, whatever)
in Terminal Emulator, set this as your shell command: "/system/xbin/su -c /system/xbin/bash". You get all the features of bash, root access, and you can still use the initial command field for whatever you want (default is adding /data/local/bin to your path)

It is the beginning of the end and I hate it!! I've had my Droid since last November and rooted it in January and it's now an awesome machine! But according to another post here, Asurion has stopped replacing Droids with Droids!

So.. coming from an old WinMo device, and I really want to upgrade today, rather than wait till the Droid X gets re-stocked.. should I just go ahead and get a MotoDroid or Incredible and within 30 days swap it out for the X when it gets back in stock
