Thumbs up Offical Froyo Download from Google

So I just read this on Engadget and downloaded the offical google froyo update. It is showing a 81.9mb file.

Question is if I am rooted can I install this without loosing " root "? I mean by just dropping it and installing like I do any other upate.zip

    Thanks for any help.

Well this is what it is saying now.

Update 3: And now we've got a direct link to download a FRF85 build that'll supposedly work for any Android build.

I got it, but scared as all hell to try it lol. Don't want VZN showing up at my door and confiscating my Droid lol.

Endgadget is usually on the money, so I am hoping (REALLY REALLY REALLY HOPING) that Ross Miller didn't mis-communicate that sentence. DId I say I was really hoping?? lol

I think what they mean by "works with any build" they mean any previous build of android on the nexus one. Some previous froyo builds for the nexus one could only be installed if you had an older build of froyo. Don't quote me on this but that's my understanding of this situation.

I have been reading a lot of comments on Engadgets site and some are saying for any android build and others are saying just for the N1...............I think I will check back in the morning to see if there is anything more official
