Possible to allow for wider status bar icons?

I have been trying to look into XML editing, trying to see if there is something laying around that would allow me to change the WIDTH of say, the battery icons. I want to make some slightly wider battery icons (same height though). Is this even possible? Battery icons would be roughly 76 wide by 38 tall.
