Can some one help me hold on to my 2.01?

Hi i Would like to hold off updating to 2.1 because of it's 2d frame drop issues, but I keep getting the update nag screen. I read about renaming the otacerts file but I heard that it drains the battery life quite a bit. are there still custom 2.01 roms available that would block the update? or any other suggestions thanks in advance.

    1. Make sure you have SPRecover 0.99.3b installed.

    2. DO NOT rename OTACERTS. In fact make sure it is intact and fine.

    3. ACCEPT and INSTALL the upgrade. ***BUT***

It will tell you that it will 'reboot to finish the install.'

Allow it to do so. SPrecovery will stop this from really happening.

When it boots into SPrecovery, hit the power button until "reboot" is selected, then hit the camera button to reboot.

The Verizon updater will be happy you updated. You, however, will not have updated.
You will not be prompted again.

+1 ...good call. A thread had something like this but had vanished.

sorry Jay...i killed the message when I realized the thread was gone. Gavron's got you covered!
    Chris

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.

I recommend using a standards compliant browser like FireFox. I followed the link and ended up at:

That even has pictures and step by step directions.
