However do NOT use this guide for the Droid X! It is ONLY for the Droid 1 A855. There is a whole droid x section here plus there's a ton of real smart foks with Droid X's over at mydroidworld.com.
I didn't see it mentioned, but thought it's worth noting that if you don't see any activity in Windows' Device manager when plugging and unplugging the phone in bootloader mode, then RSDLite isn't going to see it either. After many frustrating tries with different USB ports and different computers, I realized I had a bad USB cable (It was an OEM Motorola one, in fact, and even changed the on-screen status when connected). I switched to a different cable and the driver install screen came up on the first try.
So i need some help here.
i have tried 3 different sbf files. and my phone still won't boot past the M logo.
grr this is getting frustrating.
I was in a real bad spot earlier today stuck on the motorola screen and my phone would not boot at at all or power off without removing the battery. This saved e and my phone, now I can take I to Verizon and have them flash back to 2.2. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Restoring your phone when all else fails-LAST RESORT AND VERY RARE!!!
Basically the same as this one, but with the most up-to-date files (for now) for the A855.
need help... been trying to flash for about 5 days now... issue is that I have the latest drivers installed for Win7 64bit, have RSD lite 4.6, have the data cable plugged in and the phone in bootloader, but the phone does not show up in the list in RSD lite. I have tried both settings for recognition, but it still doesn't show up... I am getting really annoyed at this point. I need to get my phone unbricked cause I'm still paying for the service and it's out of warranty. Please help!
Try that. But first, exactly what is your phone not doing? There _might_ be another way to fix it. Finally the .sbf files in this guide are pretty old.If after a couple minutes your phone still isn't listed in the "Model" column of the bottom section, in RSD Lite, click Config, Device Id Options, and choose "First-Come-First-ServeDeviceId Mode" and press "OK". RSD Lite may say you need to restart RSD -- if so, do so.
k so where I'm at now is that I flashed my phone with the sbf in this thread, then installed the update.zip file for android 2.2 Now what happens is that my phone will boot, but does not see the charger, air card, sd card, or just about all of the other hardware. But it is rooted... which is a start I guess...
Unfortunately you cannot go straight from 2.0.1 to 2.2 and that is why you're having troubles. You have to go to 2.1 first. You might try doing a factory data reset to fix it. You probably need to do the baseband updates as well. That is why I pointed out that the .sbf files here are pretty old. Also which 2.2 update.zip file did you use? And how did you root your phone? I think the sticky on this thread has worn out . . .
