I just received my 3rd replacement Droid from Verizon. This one is perfect aesthetically. However, I'm having issues with the proximity sensor.
When in a call, the phone screen goes completely blank (as if it were up to my ear, but its not), and the only way to get it to come on while in a call is to slide out the keyboard.
I'm wondering if this could be an error in the installed phone.apk (which is stock), or if it is indeed a hardware issue with the proximity sensor.
If it could be a problem in the installed phone.apk, how could I go about reinstalling the phone.apk? Or, would installing a new ROM, like DroidMod or Bugless Beast fix the problem (I'm not sure if they overwrite the current phone.apk, or leave it unchanged). I'm also wondering if installing the OTA 2.1 on the phone would fix it. It's running 2.0.1 now, and I'd rather not update OTA because I want to root, overclock, and use a custom ROM.
Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks!
