2.1 OTA Update OK on Rooted Phone with WIFI Tether

Is it OK to do the Verizon OTA update to 2.1 if your phone is rooted and is setup for Wireless Tether?

    sure, why not?
Assuming you get the OTA, all that will happen is you get updated and will have to wait for root instructions/files for this new build.

Most ROMS do not allow the OTA.

he sounds like he rooted his phone manually and just added wifi tether. Though who knows what he really did, so that is why I said "Assuming you get the OTA"

That is correct. Also, I am not using a custom ROM.

If you have nandroid, you will have to give the update permission to install (the sprecovery blocks the auto-install) - but you should still get notified. But if you've removed the otacerts.zip, you will not get the update.

Think I'm gonna pass on this update until somebody figures out a root and overclock.

I rooted, overclocked, and installed 2.1 last week and I'm not going back to 550Mhz dammit! Ain't NO WAY!

We'll have the update.zip on the www by tomorrow.

If you are worrying about getting the update downloaded to your phone, who gives a crap? Just download it to your pc tomorrow and drag it to your sdcard. Problem solved.
