    Website Development to work with Droid

    (problem solved by mvezz below)

    Hi guys I am just trying to make a tiny simple webpage that will look nice on my droid. I am going to use it as a homepage.

    Here it is:
    Mobile Portal

    See how I made the text big and easy to click the links? And how I made the width small so it fits the phone?

    Well, visit the page on your droid and you will see that the droid zooms out really far and you hvae to zoom into the links. It treats the webpage like its width is huge, like theres a ton of stuff to the left and right of my links. Does anyone know why this is and how I can easily create a simple webpage to be visted on my droid??

    I looked at some tutorials on making websites for mobile phones but they were very confusing. I just need something really basic.

    In the css try setting the html width as well:

    html {
    width: 300px;
    }

    Otherwise it is always 100% I have not done any mobile sites, but it seems like that should work =) Let me know ^^

    Nope no luck, it just made the page stay to the left of the screen instead of the middle. :-(

    Give this a try (place in the head):

    <meta name="viewport" content="width = 300">

    You can also use this to scale to the size of each unique device screen:

    <meta name="viewport" content="width = device-width">

    Might also want to remove the html width to avoid issues...

    My staff at Penn State were excellent at developing Web sites. Unfortunately, we did not develop anything for a handheld.

    I used my Droid to view your site and it is very nice. Keep tinkering I'm sure you'll get to where you want to.

    You can try this site:

    Free Web Hosting with PHP, MySQL and cPanel, No Ads

    But to be free your website will be "www.insertname.freeiz.com"

    Otherwise, you can get hosting for about $4-7/mo and the domain name is about $1-10/year depending on where you get it.
