    Will 2.1 erase ROMS?

When 2.1 software update comes out and I download and install it will it erase or do anything to a ROM I am using? Like when you software update a jailbroken iPhone how it erases it? Or will it "coincide" with the ROM?

NO, you will NOT even receive the 2.1 update if you are using a custom ROM

They all have OTA's blocked....so you will have to get back to stock and probably unroot your phone to receive it

Could I use the original backup I made without rooting it and download the 2.1 from there? Assuming you don't need to root the phone to use the nandroid backup.

Well you have to stay rooted long enough to remove everything....just flash back to your original stock ROM if you made a backup of it....and remove everything you need to remove...and then remove root...

Them you can receive the OTA...

Or you could just stay like you are and wait just a few more days after the OTA is released and wait for the devs to make a kicka$$ REAL 2.1 ROM that is rooted and overclocked with all the features you would otherwise be giving up

the sholes team roms dont have the OTA block but the recovery kinda does. so i guess in away they all do but its not really the roms its the sprecovery. notice if you install a rom in update.zip form. you have to click enable update.zip)depreciate) or whatever it is

I'm like almost 98% sure the Shole's ROMs already have the OTA blocked.....I can very well be wrong but that's what I always thought

So if I wait to root until after 2.1. Will the "kicka$$ REAL 2.1 ROM" be included in most ROM I could install?

Oh yeah......that will be the base of all the ROMs just like how 2.0.1 is the base right now
