Problem rooting original Droid with z4root

    Here are the specs:

    Motorola Droid
    Android version: 2.2.3
    Build: FRK76
    Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-g68eeef5 android-build@apa26#1

    z4root is version 1.3.0.

I downloaded and transferred the apk file to SD card and installed using the app 'Easy Installer'. When trying to root with 'Permanent Root' it will go through 'Running exploit in order to obtain root access' and then 'Acquiring root shell...'. Shortly after that the application closes without warning.

I installed 'NE-Debugger' which showed that Java exceptions were thrown. Here is part of the log file.

    My questions are...

    1) Is there any troubleshooting to be done or do my specs indicate Verzion has patched this thing up with updates which inhibits whatever exploits z4root takes advantage of?

    2) Any other good apps (for Android not PC) that might help me root this and where I can find em?

    Thanks.

You can't root with Z4root anymore on anything past 2.2 on the OG Droid.

Try this thread: Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

Thanks. Didn't know that. Do you (or anyone else reading this) know of any apps you can run on the phone that can root 2.2.3 on the original Droid?
