Of course now I don't have to worry about it all since I unrooted for the 2.1 update.
So you're willing to risk not being able to root the device again?
Are you kidding? I'm guessing within two weeks it's rooted again.

Use Screebl like xrider says it will keep your screen off when you lay it down.

I have Bugless Beast 7.5 at 1.0 Ghz and setcpu is working fine. My phone is running about 70 degrees when inactive. When I turn it on and start surfing, it jumps up to 90+ in a hurry. So the sleep profile is def working. That leads me to believe the other profiles are working too.

I'm running Bugless Beast and I flashed Taz's kernel. SetCPU profiles working fine for me.

Wireless worked fine, and the new temperature sensor works great. No issues!

It will be rooted, but we don't have a clue as to how long it will take. Also, you will have to wait for the dev's to come up with a good, stable custom rom. For me it was a non-decision - do nothing. The custom roms provide everything I want this phone to be right now. When the 2.1 custom roms offer more (of the things that interest me), I'll swap then. If the 2.1 only offers visual gee gaws, I'll never change. But no unrooting here.

    thanks!!!
I dont know man...cause Sholes wouldn't let me get over 950MHz, so I switched back over to BB cause I had ran BB that high for a week or 2 before I got Sholes...

By putting in one of the kernels that go that high - Evilboot 1.1 or taz' 1.1, etc. They can be added to the custom roms. I tried Taz' 1.1 and 1.3 with BB7.4 but couldn't get them to work. I then tried evilboot1.1 and it wouldn't work either. I can run 1.0, but nothing above on my droid.

It burned my hand when I picked it up. I would have check temp monitor if I wasn't so scared but I instantly turned it off and let it cool off for like 10 min then I turned it back on and suprisingly its completely fine.
    I'm doubting this story.

I've never ever had my phone heat up except when I was playing a very graphic intensive game (homerun baseball).

I've had phones heat up, but "burning like the screen was going to melt", and then it was fine? something doesn't make sense here. I've never felt my Droid heat up from use, and I'm overclocked at 950 and use it all day and all night.

I'd be interested to know what you guys have set on profiles.. I'm currently running BB latest version. I have my setcpu profiles set to:

    Charging 800/125
    Sleep/Standby 550/250
    Power<100% Disabled
    Failsafe Batt >40.0C 550/125
