    bricked..

Okay I know I have bricked my phone. It won't turn on or anything it is toast. I did it by uploading a framework-res.apk to /data/local i then used a root file manager to copy that .apk file to /system/framework/ after i did this the phone rebooted had no service and everything force closed. I then took my original framework-res.apk and loaded it. After I did that I restarted the phone and it wouldn't even load past the splash screens. I put the modified .apk back on and it would load again with no service and force closing everything. I again reloaded my original framework-res.apk and it would loop the splash screens again. Being in a panic I stupidly did the On+X and ormatted the phone. Now it was turning on and going past the 2 splash screens but right after the second splash screen it just went to a black screen. I woke up this morning and tried turning the phone on and now it won't even turn on. I guess my real question is this... When replacing the framework-res.apk it messed up the phone obviously and all i did was change 1 single graphic. So why when I reloaded the original apk did it not just go back to normal? Maybe I wasn't actually loading it right? Like i said i used root file manager to replace the apk originally so maybe i wasn't replacing it through adb? I was doing adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/ and it said it wrote it to there. Would this be correct? If anyone could shed light on this I would be happy. At least I have a $150 paperweight now!

Could you have possibly borked your stock framework-res.apk? I'd suggest getting one elsewhere and trying it. Your command is correct: adb push framework-res.apk /system/framework/

Since you were changing stuff in /system, I assume you are rooted...did you install SPRecovery also? Did you make a backup?

Have you tried pulling the battery and putting it back in to see if it boots up? Plugging it in?

I had backed up the entire system to my pc. However when I stupidly formatted the phone I now had no access to do anything with it. It won't turn on and I can't connect it to my pc. The phone is pretty much like I said a $150.00 paperweight. The thing won't even turn on. The only life it shows is when I plug it in to charge the charging port lights up. I most likely am going to get a new droid and definitely not root it well not until it drops in price a bit lol. I shouldn't have panicked that was my downfall I already found a solution to my problem but too little too late lol. Anyone who reads this it really is hard to brick your phone I know a bunch of people who modded theirs just fine. If something goes wrong DON'T PANIC! Just find a solution online they are everywhere. Hope this helps someone not to brick theirs lol.

Have you taken the phone to a VZW store and talked to them about it? Tell them that it won't turn on and you aren't sure what happened. If you have the extended warranty you could always throw it in the toilet "by accident" first too lol.

If you have the SPRecovery image installed, your phone isn't bricked. There is always a recovery option. You can use that boot image to wipe the device and install a fresh 2.0.1 backup that a few people have posted.

If you DIDN'T install that recovery image - you might have a problem. Try to get the phone to boot and connect to it with ADB. If you can do that, you might be able to install sprecovery and restore to a working state.

Good luck! (and in the future, don't mess around with stuff as root unless you have a backup, or at least a method of recovering the phone).

Something other things worth trying to get it to boot:
1). Try pulling the battery out for a minute and putting it back in
2). Plug into a USB port of a computer (not a wall charger) and leave it there for awhile (hours). I've had some battery issues that required a long charge before it would boot successfully.

If u got a backup on ur PC and sprecovery on ur phone but no nandroid backup on card cause
u formatted ur SD card just use a card reader to create a nandroid folder on the SD card
then place ur backup in the nandroid folder.
