This is the guide I used to root my droid: Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version.

    BTW, to the forum.

You can't use an app to root 2.2.2, you need to use the PC running rsdlite and the appropriate .sbf file....

    Follow this thread, no others.

RSD is not as hard as it looks. Follow carefully.

Flashing SBF files isn't too complicated...except perhaps to those who haven't done it a bunch of times. Once you've done it once you gain a good understanding of what is going on. Last time I rooted, just a few weeks ago, I used SuperOneClick. I plugged the phone into the computer, ran the file, and was rooted. What comes next depends on what you want to do. You might need SPRecovery, you might want Clock Work Recovery to flash some roms.

If none of the above makes sense, go back and read some more or clearly state what your desired end goal is. (I want to do this or install that)

    and welcome to DroidForums!
    Chris

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.
