Hi i'm kinda new to this, but i was wondering if i follow these instructions exactly can i just use the bugless beast rom instead of sholes? or is there anything special i need to know. it looks like this rom is a update.zip so i didnt know if the installation process would be different. Thanks!
Yes you can use the bugless beast rom, the nandroid one. I would suggest going through the whole process to get the feel of it. Then you can do either the update.zip or nandroid upload of BB. However with the nandroid it wipes all your data. I did the update.zip because I am really new to this and its way easier in my opinion.
I'm having issue with step 20.
20. Type '/system/bin/flash_image recovery /sdcard/recovery-0.99.2b.img'. There should be a short pause as the custom recovery image is flashed and then the command prompt will appear again. At this point, the stock recovery screen you saw in steps 6-7 has now been replaced by the one you will see in steps 29-30 and on. This recovery image was written by SirPsycoS and is shared by him at sholes.info.
I've tried both using sdk and the terminal emulator and getting the same error.
The error that comes up is :/system/bin/flash_image: 1: Syntax error: ")" unexpected
I'm totally lost at this point, any idea?

Is the flash image on the root of your sd card? I used a zip file to get the flash image and when I extracted it I mistakenly moved the folder to the root and not the file itself. Make sure you have the flash image file on the root and that its named properly.
I have tried like 5 times and still no tar archives found and yes it is on the sdcard name correctly but still no results I also tried the bugless beast update.zip one and still no tar archives found.
Anyone Please help
