All I want to do is pull an app's APK for a install on a new phone.

I have an app that is no longer available on the market, and I am going to be getting a Revolution, and I want to be able to pull the apk file and then install it on the new phone later.

I am going to be selling my current phone afterwards so if rooting is the only way to do this, I want to be able to go back to stock afterwards.

I'm on a stock droid 1. Any help or idea would be appreciated.

Forgive me as I've never rooted before, can I just download root explorer for free?

EDIT: I found it in the market for a few dollars which is fine, but again being a total newb, is this what I need to actually root my phone and unroot it?

Root explorer will give you access to all files on your phone. You can get the app you want from there. Whatever way you rooted the first time is the way you'll unroot?

Using Root Explorer alone does NOT give you root access. You'll need to root it first to do that read through this thread...

    http://www.droidforums.net/forum/dro...e-posting.html

within that post there is a link to another one that will give you more detailed instructions.

FYI, i used the RDSLite method but that was ages ago and before the various one click options so other than providing a link reference, i'm afraid I cant be much more help than that

I didn't mean to imply that root explorer gave you root access, just that it allows one to access all system files (if rooted already). I assumed he would understand that.

OK, so I have Z4 and I clicked temporary root, any idea where downloaded apps are? I'm looking through files with root explorer, but I really don't know where to look. I found the system app's like the browser.
