Overclocking Droid 1
Hi there everyone. Long time lurker first time poster. Just flew in and boy are my arms tired.
I originally rooted with the intention of OCing my Droid 1. I got distracted with all the ROMs out there. I finally settled on Peter Alfonso's stock Gingerbread 2.3.3 ROM But it appears after loading up SetCPU this ROM only goes up to 600MHz. I at least want to get this baby to 900MHz / 1GHz.
I found some posts but I am not sure of the process and a lot of them are over a year old and the community has come a long way thus far. Any help?
u need a kernel on top of the ROM. check out my sig for overclocking 101 or just google ur build number and kernel.
I understand that part. I was just wondering if there was anything new or modestly new. The kernels that I found are over a year old.
oh im not sure on whats been released recently. i mean if the kernel is for ur build then it should be fine. just try a few different devs' and see what works best.
Kernels are released all the time, there are some released this month. Check out the ROM section for a list of the latest kernels.
Peter Alfonso has his own kernels I'd suggest grabbing if you said you're running one of his GPA builds. On his website
Check out the Android ROMs section. There are three stickys at the top with links and such. Or like mentioned above try his site for a Kernel from him. Also I do know Pete only overclocks to 600 that's why you are maxed out with SetCPU. I have found that OC'ing on my phone past 900 makes my phone unstable any ways. Heres a few by RZR from the LGB site Index of /DL/LGB/KERNELS but try checking around. I know Chevy has cranked a few out also.
I Use Chevyno1 Simply Stunning V5.2 Rom With His Low Voltage 1.25Ghz Kernel...That Works Great On My Droid One...Set Cpu Will Then Read As Max And Min As 1250Mhz...Hope This Helps...And It Runs Fast As Hell...I Love It...
2nd Check out Raidzero's kernels. Super smooth and fast as HE77! I love them.
3rd Good Luck.
I just flashed rz's LV 250/1200 kernal and I am noticing very erratic cpu temp changes using temp monitor (goes from 90ish when idle to 120-125 when in use). This normal? It can't be good for the cpu, all that quick heating up and cooling down. I love the speed, but imo hardware integerity is a higher priority.
