add a c to the end of java when configuring alternatives ie sudo update-alternatives --config javac <> sudo update-alternatives --config java <~~if you get no selection then you need to install current java

and eclipse is a waste of time and effort notepad++ owns

and froyo is still available source you just have to force the branch

    jason@Jason-Studio-1735:~$ sudo update-alternatives --config java
    [sudo] password for jason:
There is only one alternative in link group java: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/jre/bin/java
    Nothing to configure.
    jason@Jason-Studio-1735:~$

    jason@Jason-Studio-1735:~$ sudo update-alternatives --config javac
There is only one alternative in link group javac: /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun/bin/javac
    Nothing to configure.
    jason@Jason-Studio-1735:~$

i posted both commands just as example

also i use linux mint 10 julia on this machine other machine is ubuntu 10.10

@Swallisa im on 32bit, not 64. That's what is screwing me up, can't find anything to fix that on 32.

@Quagmire thanks, ill try when I get home.... at school now. As for notepad, what makes it better? Biggest reason i was gonna use eclipse is that's what the tutorial recommends and I had no clue what else to use.

personally i would have went with a 64bit copy of ubuntu... its more cross-compatible with gingerbread to froyo. but anyway, try "uname -a" to be certain you're running 32bit

sorry if i am giving dumb advice i'm just not sure what your level of knowledge is.

    Linux ubuntu 2.6.35-28-generic #49-Ubuntu SMP Tue Mar 1 14:39:03 UTC 2011 x86_64 GNU/Linux
Odd, swore i told it 32bit when i was setting it up. Dumb advice is good lol. Im still kinda new to linux (been using about a month and a half) so if it helps it helps.

edit:fixed it..... now that i know its 64bit i realized i hadnt installed a few of the 64bit lib's. Installed them and its compiling.

Thats what he said!!!.......lol I knew you had installed 64bit by the error messages you were getting ooh well thats how you learn best trial and error mostly error.

If you don't have to set up your android makin machine at least twice your not trying.

    Good luck!!!!
