    Current method for rooting 2.2.1?

My Droid recently broke and I had to get it replaced. My original Droid was rooted over a year ago using an older method which no-longer works and the majority of the stickies and other info on rooting seems out of date or is vague.

Can anyone point me in the correct direction for what the CURRENT method is for rooting a Droid on 2.2.1? My goal is to root my droid and then use sprecovery to reinstall a nandroid of the rom I previously had running on my phone.

Can anyone help me out with this?

At first appearance it seems pretty convoluted.

Is that the popular method that everyone else is using to root nowadays? I remember back when I stopped following the android hacking scene clockwork was able to root and flash sprecovery. Is clockwork still around?

Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version <-- that method is probably more popular on these forums. Either will work though, just a little different process in each one.

he asked for a method other then super one click because it was difficult.
flashing an sbf would be 1000x more involved.

Nah it doesn't look diffulcult, it just appeared "risky". With the older methods for rooting your phone it was practically impossible to brick it. I got the impression from reading that post that it was some niche method for doing it and not the main way most people were rooting nowadays. I guess I was wrong.

Just redid my phone after I obtained root access on 2.1 and then went back to stock. It worked out fine for me but like last time I had to use my old computer with XP versus Windows 7 64bit on my laptop. I think the problem is that the Motorola drivers weren't recognized on the new laptop.

It works, just stay with it.
