    DeskClock from 2.1 on Droid...

Just thought i'd let you guys know about this ....

AllDroid.org - View topic - DeskClock from 2.1 ported to 2.0.1 - Weather now working

I'm still using the original geniewidget where everything works fine. With the deskclock installed it always is displaying in Celcius... that's the only bug i'm facing right now.

    So go...install now!

FYI, Don't use the GenieWidget file posted there, it is flawed and forces closes almost all the time.

Use the one from here instead and it will work better...

Thing that's irritating me is I can't figure out how to make beautiful widgets when you click the clock, goto the 2.1 clock!
It's driving me nuts! I've tried direct copy and pastes with re-names, symlinks, etc..nothin works.

You will probalby have to wait until the official 2.1 update before that will work with the 2.1 alarm clock.

This is actually useful, if i turn it on and set it on my desk plugged in I can just press home to get out of it and not have to unlock....i noticed if it sits for a while it goes to a screen saver. Anyone know an app to map it to say a long hold on the menu button or something so I can quickly go into it?

    Explanation of the flawed version:

The flawed version allows the weather to work correctly in the DeskClock.apk.

You have to pick the best of two evils for you... Incorrect or no weather in the ported deskclock, or no news widgets from the GenieWidget. Weather widget works for some reason. You will not get force closes unless you install either the news widget or the news and weather widget on the desktop.

You can map it to a hard press on camera button using app from market called button shortcuts.

It behaves as normal when the camera app is open. It won't open the camera app now, but it will still take a picture correctly.
