Based on the OP, you should be able to skip to steps 3 and 4 (install the android-wifi-tether app, and patch it for the droid).

Runs pretty well so far. Live wallpaper is sluggish when sliding between screens.

i keep telling myself that once they get the kinks ironed out that im gonna do this but i feel like by the time everything is working 100% it will prolly be time for the official release of 2.1 on the droid

its sorta funny cuz i always jailbroke my ipod first thing but that opened up so many new functions that you would have never gotten, android on the other hand is so much different because rooting on the droid seems (for the most part) to just get you things early instead of having to wait for the official release, as opposed to never getting them at all

It could just be me but i still cant get tethering to work. I am not getting errors execpt for the one in the app. My error is Unable to start teathering which leads me to believe that i am not installing the teather.txt rite. Does anyone know which one we should use? I tried tether-2.txt but its a no go

Well I hope you are right, I loved jailbreaking my ipods but at this point the rooting seems to just be for the impatient, i really hope some new stuff comes out soon
