    unable to re-root

I renamed all the bloatware back to apk, the system update was successful, only now I cannot get it to root again. I believe this is partly my error and that of my computer, I managed to open the superuser.apk as a java file and can't get it back to its original state......I tried deleting all files from the -sdk to the doroot folder, to find I can't delete the -adb or the other driver.....this is driving ne mad.....as usual this a cry for help

What methods have you tried to really root? You should be able to use the multiple phones link in my signature.

Any luck? What methods of rooting did you try? Have you tried z4root? That works on the X.

The problem is that if super user is still in system/apps z4root and other one click root methods tend to fail.

Good point. And if you don't have root access you can't delete it, and without being able to delete it you can't reroot. That means it's ADB time to push/pull files.

Indeed that is the catch 22. However in the past few days I have helped several members reroot with that link in my sig and it really doesn't take much time once you read through it.

Most people don't want to go that route so I keep suggesting superoneclick, but that probably would have the same drawbacks as z4root. Counterpoint. Then again, most of the people I'm working with are on D1s so they can't use that method as-is.

Anyway, off-topic over for me for now.

I regret updating, my Droid x has been running slow with just about every application ...this is before I attempted to re root, like I said earlier my computer is reading the superuser.apk file with java and I can't change the file back.once I do thhat I should be able to root again. I plan on trying what you've both suggested but I had much difficulty the first time I rooted ....I'm still very new to this and i am becoming more annd more frustrated with the problems and my phones performance, I love this phone and I fear I may have screwed something up...unless the update is to blame after all. Anyway I greatly appreciate all the help, please bare with me
