theres no need to download everything since a lot of the stuff is other devices and is worthless to us (its about 876mb of unneeded data, all of the devices). I'm writing a bash script for this but I have to figure out repositories are needed for the droid.

Edit: warning to anyone who tries this, the full respository is 6.4 GB and takes over 2 hours to download....

Edit 2: apparently all the devices need to be downloaded for the command lunch cyanogen_sholes-eng to complete successfully.

I wish I would have known that about three hours ago....

edit: Koush's github only has donut and eclair apparently...

I wrote a bash script to do all the stuff listed in the cyanogen wiki because I figured I'd be doing this more than once and I've always thought about making my own rom at some point just for the hell of it.

could you just compile my changes for me? Ive been trying to get this damn thing to work all freaking day lol

You'll need a 64bit copy of ubuntu if you wanna build any roms past froyo.. idk what type you're running but if you have 32bit id look at upgrading.

If you wanna build a rom just download cyanogens full repo. And setup the device environment then simply type make. your recovery will be in ..../sholes/recovery.img

Download the full source code of what? android_vendor_cyanogen? android_device_motorola_sholes? can you explain how to set it up? Thats the part where I'm lost....
download the entire cyanogen source tree.. follow this Compile CyanogenMod for Sholes - CyanogenMod Wiki ... run command "make" after your vendor setup and your recovery.img will be in /out/target/product/sholes/recovery.img
    Thank you.

I'm a newbie at this. Could you tell me where to place the downloaded Clockworkmod source after following the wiki steps?

you place it in ~/android/system/bootable and replace the recovery folder

The problem I'm having now is that make is breaking:
make: *** No rule to make target `out/target/product/generic/obj/STATIC_LIBRARIES/libapplypatch_intermediates/libapplypatch.a', needed by `out/target/product/generic/obj/EXECUTABLES/updater_intermediates/LINKED/updater'. Stop.

And I'm stuck at Repo sync which is trying to get all the massive repositories of each and every device for which Cyanogen has been built, rather than my device alone!
