    Just got a replacement Droid...

So my Power button broke..got a certified replacement via verizon. I want to root it, i remember seeing a guide on how to root any software version for the droid, but can't seem to find it now, could someone link me?

Also once the new phone is rooted, cud i just use the recovery image from the old phone to have it exactly the way it was? or do i need to reinstall all the kernals and theme again?

Try this...Root Droid 1 - regardless of OS version

Yes you can use the backup from your old phone.

    Try RomManager or Quick Boot.

+1! Though it would be pretty difficult to go back through the recovery menus without a power button. Hmm...

It's been awhile since I had my Droid, but didn't you use the volume rocker and camera button in recovery?

Yes. Volume was to move navigate through the options and camera as "select" but the power button went back.

You're right. I wonder if he could boot into recovery perform a backup then pull the battery and the backup should be on the SD card.
