    Coming from a Storm...

Having a Storm for a year got me really paranoid about internal memory. I have read the sticky about not worrying about apps in the background, but it seems like my Droid is using a lot of memory for a few apps. Here is what I have downloaded:

    GolfCard
    Maps Update
    Battery Widget

    Currently I have "Avail: 29 MB + 83 MB in 19 Other: 62 MB in 4"
Am I reading this wrong, or do I only have 29 MB free? It just seems like a lot of internal memory is being used by three Apps and the pre-loaded processes... Mainly just looking for confirmation that this is normal and the Droid will be able to handle any other Apps I look to install. Thanks.

Note: I did a Ctrl+Alt+Del reset last night, so this represents a day of light phone use, browsing, etc...

Seems like I should. I just want to get this figured out ASAP so I can go get a replacement if this one is defective.

Droid handles memory much better than that broken Storm mess.

Download Home++, run it in persistant mode, and just breathe easy. When I first cameover from the Storm I was obsessing over taskkilling everything to free up memory, and I didn't need to.

but your memory should be higher then that... i have over 60 apps installed and have 45mb ram left with 140mb app storage left.

As previously mentioned, Droid handles memory much differently then Storm does. I know it's hard to get out of that mode of thinking but you're going to have to. Just don't worry about it.

If you want to do something about it you can get an app like Task Panel. There are others that will show you what's running and kill the apps for you. But it really isn't necessary.

Relax. Android isn't Blackberry (and I am a big BB fan). Let it do its thing. Don't look for problems when there aren't any.

I really don't know which was worse Blackberry or WinMobile. The Droid is light years ahead of either. I also started looking for things to kill when I first got the Droid. After doing so reading, I got rid of Task Killer. Droid runs fine without it.

Thanks for the responses guys. I will let it be. Now I've got to watch my Noles try and hold off Auburn. Later.
