    Looking into smartphones

A lot of my friends are Iphone fanatics, and I'd like to have a few biased opinions from droid lovers.

I have a few questions as well.

Can I listen to music while browsing, or using other apps?

Can I transfer content from my already ripped CDs to it?

And will it keep artist info and such when i do?

Is it Linux compatible? (i.e plug in/drag and drop files)

If anybody uses On-ear Bose Headphones with their Droid X, does it sound alright?

Can I download songs straight onto the phone using services like Amazon?

Can I lock people out of it with a passcode or anything?

Oh, and to the forum! You'll find very helpful people, a lot of smartalecks, and as much information as you can stand to read.

    Thanks.

If anyone has anything else to add to that, feel free.

Oh! Can I make my own ringtones and send them to the phone using programs and other services?

    • Yes, you can.

Can I transfer content from my already ripped CDs to it?
•Yes, you can assuming you have the files (mp3 or whatever)

And will it keep artist info and such when i do?
    • Yup

Can I download songs straight onto the phone using services like Amazon?
    • Yup

Can I lock people out of it with a passcode or anything?
•Password, numerical lock or pattern lock are all options (i think password might be a 2.2 only feature but most of the good androids are 2.2

The major advantages that you are going to gain with an android phone over a I*hone are:

Customization: Set up your phone the way that suits you. Widgets to read your messages on one page, quick app links on another.

Flexibility: There is a keyboard and touch only version on at least 3 of the 4 major national carriers (not sure on good keyboard androids for Att).

iZombies don't want to admit that idoesn't in alot of ways that droid does.

Don't even bother with a service. Get ringdroid and use your mp3s right on the phone.

Oh yeah, and sideloading apps doesn't require jailbreaking the phone unless you're on AT&T.

But if you want to jailbreak your phone we have you covered.

Yup. Widgets, shortcuts to apps/contacts/etc. Folders to organize things. Think of it as a mini computer that makes phone calls.

Oh, and plays flash videos and games.
