    My $ 0.02 worth

    EVERYDAY
Appsorganizer - group by situation are useful, that's my app drawer, no flinging (bless you ADW)
    Smart Taskbar - multi-tasking, whew!
Ultrachron if I have to pick one of the timers I use throughought workday
No Lock - geeze that lock screen drove me crazy
Alarm Klock - goes along with the timers for work (I have a lot of deadlines.)

    STOCK REPLACEMENT
I think Google is the only thing I do use.
ADW EX - big improvement IMHO, customization is my vice, options definitely worth the time to configure intuitively
    Widgetsoid
    Juice Defender
    Fancy Widgets
    Rainy Days

    RECOMMEND
ITitan - Heck, I live on an Island, this is a good starting point for the plethora of informative environmental apps
Laputa - free books to read when waiting
    GPS Status - dang cool
Digital Clock - small, clean and uncluttered
    Watchdog lite

    Not rooted

OVERALL - my kind of customization opportunities
    ADW EX
    Widgitsoid
    Appsorganizer
    Smart Taskbar
    Battery Snap

Awesome post! Exactly what a new Android user like myself needs to really experience what is out there. Getting my used D1 and will be rooting, rom, wifi tether, etc.. immediately. Can't wait to try out these apps. Thanks Everyone who posted!

Try Goby... it's great for attractions and things to do.
"Where" or "Poynt" would have the other things you listed.
