Garrett if you have a MFG problem then you take it to VZW and they send you a new phone. If you break it you call Asurion and they send you a comparable model. as if the eris could even hold the droids jockstrap. I didnt buy an Eris I bought a Driod. Now give me a Droid

If Ass-ur-in wants to go that route, maybe I need to look for a private insurance company to cover my phone. They can't tell me that that with all the people that pay them money for insurance each month, that they don't make enough to cover the cost of a replacement Droid. I've never once had to use insurance to replace a phone, yet had insurance. So MY money should at least help SOMEONE get a new Droid. I can understand making a profit, but at least get me a replacement that is CLOSE to what I had, not some wanna-be piece of crap.
Or maybe I need to save $600 and lock it away as my own personal insurance. Take the $6/mnth + $89 and put it in that account as well.
In the past they would get you a new one if they didn't have a refurb available. Demanding that you take a much lesser phone in exchange is not credible, even if their terms dictate they can. I have to file a claim soon as well, been living with a cracked screen for awhile now. They can replace it with a Droid 1, Droid 2, or Droid X, but nothing else. In fact I'm going to wait until Droid 2 is out before I make a claim.
OG Droid retired but serving as a wireless tablet now and then.
i feel the pain, 2 weeks after i got my droid, plop in the toilet out of the top pocket. i had the insurance however a week to get it to me. took my wifes upgrade for $100 had it the next day. i thought the contract said same like kind or quality? eris or devour, wtf.
i would hound them until the replace with a droid x or droid. keep calling until you get satisfaction. you will eventually get a CSR that just wants you off the phone. worked for me in so many ways with Verizon.
Well I went to the local VZW store to see what they can do. Waited for about 45min to talk to a supervisor. Told him the situation with Asurion trying to push the eris on to the people that have the Droid. He said that he would have to hear it for himself. Any way when the asurion rep and supervisor said that the droid was no longer being made he went off the deep end. "What are the people that bought Droids and ins going to do when their droid breaks?" Reply was "we will give them the Eris."
The Rep wasn't happy with that and asked for the inhouse recovery Dept. Apparently this is Asurions Dept that handles in store ins claims. Any way after about 25 min I got a brand new Droid right out of the box. Long story short go in upset and VZW will do their best to make it right.
Oh btw, when I was finishing up the VZW sales rep said "I guess we know who bought up all the Eris stock when we discontinued the phone." and was told that if I have any more issues with Asurion just come to the store directly
