I'm getting a Droid myself on Monday. Definitely looking forward to that.
Still, I work in Audit/Consulting/Accounting and IT, etc.. and one question that comes to mind is that in this open source development environment and with the apps that are placed out there, could a malicious developer create a program/widget/app that is used to gather personal/private information (credit cards, etc..or general private info) and have it sent back to them?
What would prevent such a thing from occurring in this type of environment? It's just something that's been on my mind and while I think the likelihood is low, I still have been wondering.
Is there process by which the apps are vetted to avoid that kind of activity?
Thanks for any info you all might have. This question shouldn't put a crimp on the use of the Droid. I support open source development and the creativity it brings. I'm really excited to get mine soon. It will be my first smartphone!
