I got my first "low storage" notification today.
Please note that the guy has an HTC Desire phone, but it doesn't matter, the process for the Droid is the same exact way.
MOVE APPS TO SD CARD STEPS RECAP
4) Manage Applications
5) select an application
6) click on "Move to SD Card" button
7) repeat steps 5 & 6 for each application

1) You have Froyo installed (version 2.2 of the Android OS)
2) The app that you are trying to move to SD has that capability programmed into it!
In other words, this feature is ultimately enabled by the APPLICATION. The developer must program this feature into it.
I have over 100 apps downloaded onto my Droid; however, I would venture a guess that only about 1/3 (or maybe only 1/4!) of those apps have the ability (the Move to SD card button) available.
As more time goes by, more and more apps will be updated to have this feature enabled.
