    Question Deactivated Droid

My Droid X just showed up today, and I have yet to activate it, but I have a question... What will happen to my Droid 1 after I activate my Droid X? I have never had a reason to deactivate my Droid, until now...

I imagine you'll be letting us know soon if nobody else has a reply.

I would think you could still use it on wifi, but with a DX in your pocket, that can do the same thing, will you really want to be carrying around 2 phones? Especially if one is no longer functioning as a phone.

Ebay is an option of what happens to it too.

If you apply a rom or theme - backup first!
If you don't know how to backup...Stop until you do.
hint: I name my backups like this: sg6.0_20100428 or ss4.2_20100626 to easily find them later. rom and date.

Once you activate your DX over the air or in a Verizon store, whatever phone you have (in this case, your D1) will simply lose some features. You can still run your apps, make emergency phone calls (ie 911), and use Wi-Fi. You just won't be able to make regular phone calls, text, surf over 3G, etc.
    -Card.
Rooted D1, ChevyNo1 1.1ghz mdV kernel, MIUI 1.6.10 ROM. Google voice/Groove IP home phone.
Droid Incredible 2, Tiamat 1.1.5 kernel, Liquid 3.1 ROM. So far, so good!

I don't want to carry two phones, I just want to be able to make sure that I have everything on my new phone before I get rid of my old one... I didn't know if my Droid 1 would be stuck on the activation screen, and if I had to take my drocap pics of all the apps I have now or later

Any app you downloaded should auto download again for you. That information is stored up in the cloud. As noted above you will still be able to flip through the list of apps in your app drawer and grab and use the new phone to head to the market if some did not come down.

Let us know how the transition goes!

I had to Deactivate my Droid for a weekend..It froze when doing the 2.1 update. It was an amazing device even deactivated..thing of an Ipod touch that doesnt have phone. You can still use it as a wi fi browser , and it is still a great Music player..You can also move the 16 gb card to your DX

right.. the D1 becomes like an iTouch.. basically losing the phone (3G/text) functionality... once I activated the DX, I just let my daughter play with the D1 (via WiFi).. she can still play games off market, listen to music, etc... even watch YouTube (via WiFi)
